XRP Is Likely To Lose 50% Of Its Value

XRP is trading above $1.00, but the altcoin has lost 50% of its value in the last few months. This downfall happened despite the fact that XRP ETFs attracted billions of inflows.

Looking ahead, analysts expect XRP to fall further. The coin is set to lose value not because the company did something wrong. In fact, Ripple is doing well and has already acquired other fintech companies to cement its position in the finance market.

RLUSD Has Changed The Game

So, what's the real issue that will cause the XRP to drop further? The bull case for XRP was hanging on shaky ground. The assumption was that the growth of Ripple would also pull the XRP price higher. An increase in partnerships will lead to higher payment volume, and that will increase the demand for tokens.

It all sounded nice on paper but didn't really happen in the real world. Ripple has two products, and they are different. The first is the settlement layer used by banks. This layer never uses the tokens.

The cross-border payment system does use the XRP. But it acts as a bridge asset that can be used to convert one currency to another.

Also, the launch of Ripple's own stablecoin has changed everything. The RLUSD can now serve as the bridge asset, which means there's no need for the XRP. The market cap of RLUSD has gone up to $1.53 billion.

If you think about it, banks would want a stablecoin that's pegged to the dollar instead of a volatile cryptocurrency. So, that's also something that has weakened the position of XRP.

So for the most part, the path of least resistance for XRP is downwards. Analysts think XRP can lose 50% or more of its value in the coming years. So, if you were thinking of holding XRP for the long term, then remember these risks.
