Marvell Technology Vs. Broadcom: Which Stock Is Better?

One area that is getting the most attention in this AI revolution is the chip industry. And the two big names in this market are Broadcom and Marvell Technology. So, it's only natural for an investor to feel confused about choosing between Marvell Technology (MRVL) and Broadcom (AVGO).

Broadcom is involved in infrastructure software and chips. On the other hand, Marvell mainly deals with data infrastructure services. It provides special chips for carrier networks and the cloud.

Broadcom

Broadcom makes infrastructure software and semiconductors. It is involved in enterprise software, mobile connectivity, and networking.

Broadcom also has many big-name customers. However, the top 5 customers of Broadcom account for 40% of the total revenue. So, there is a customer concentration risk that must be considered.

In FY2025, Broadcom's revenue was $63.9 billion. This represents a jump of 23.9% from the last financial year. The net income during the same period was $23.1 billion.

The ratio of debt to equtiy in case of Broadcom was recorded at 0.8x. That's a good number when we consider Broadcom's strong revenue.

If we talk about risks, the biggest one faced by Broadcom is its reliance on TSMC. The data shows that 95% of the wafers used by Broadcom are made by TSMC.

Marvell Technology

Marvell provides semiconductor solutions for cloud, data centers, and carrier networks. The company also has a partnered up with GlobalFoundries.

The increased spending in data center buildout due to the AI boom has also helped Marvell. The revenue during FY2026 was $8.2 billion. This is an increase of almost 42.1% from the last financial year.

Net income during FY2026 was $2.7 billion. This is a big improvement considering that Marvell reported a net loss in the last year.

The debt-to-equity ratio of Marvell is 0.3x. This is actually better than Broadcom's ratio of 0.8x. The key risk faced by Marvell is also customer concentration. The top 10 customers of Marvell account for almost 82% of the net revenue.

Which Stock To Buy?

A closer look at both companies reveals that Broadcom stock is the better choice. It has a strong backlog, which suggests its revenue from AI could double in the next financial year. It does face customer concentration risk, but it is nowhere close to what's going on with Marvell.
