Why CoreWeave Is Not A Good AI Infrastructure Stock

CoreWeave revenue doubled every quarter in 2025 and eventually reached $5.1 billion on a 12-month trailing basis. According to analysts, the revenue growth of CoreWeave will continue with a strong chance of touching $12 billion in 2026.

One thing CoreWeave has going for itself is its long-term contracts with Meta Platforms, OpenAI, and Microsoft. The media reports show that CoreWeave has also made a new deal with Antropic.

CoreWeave Relies On Leasing Data Centers

But, there's one key problem which makes CoreWeave not so great an AI infrastructure stock. The problem is that CoreWeave mainly relies on leasing the data centers.

In simple words, CoreWeave doesn't focus much on building its own facilities, and that is one of its biggest drawbacks. For example, CoreWeave made an announced last year about a delay in construction due to 3rd party builder.

Although the issue was resolved, it did show that CoreWeave doesn't have too much control over the expansion of its data center.

The leasing strategy helped CoreWeave expand at a fast pace without incurring too many costs. But this also leaves the CoreWeave exposed to risks that are not seen in companies that own their data centers.

Two companies that own and operate their data centers usually have better control. Also, the stock price of companies like this has gone through the roof in the last few years.

In 2025, the stock price of TeraWulf gained 700% upside while IREN was up by 600%. So, both of these stocks easily outperformed CoreWeave.

In the long run, it is clear that the data center companies that own their land and the power source will have the edge. The thing about vertical integration is that it offers more control over cost, construction timelines, and allows for a more predictable path.

Because of these reasons, it is safe to say that CoreWeave stock is not a good idea at all. In fact, there are far better super semiconductor stocks out there with a lot more impressive gains.
