Elon Musk Tests Positive For COVID

Elon Musk is Covid-infected. He is tested positive without any major symptoms. He tweeted it is the second time for him and referred to the virus as Theseus, which is a word in philosophy and Ship of Theseus is basically a thought experiment questioning whether something is the same thing following the change of all the components.

The Tesla CEO earlier had questioned the Covid tests in November 2020 and during the first wave of the pandemic. He was then tested positive twice and negative twice on a single day. He stated the infection was moderate without concluding whether it was the result of rapid tests or the more accurate polymerase chain reaction test.

In its journey of more than two years, the coronavirus has emerged in different variants and about 976,000 people in the United States have died from the disease. Currently, the number of infection cases has dropped but the warnings of health experts still persist.

China is witnessing a fresh coronavirus outbreak and a couple of cities including Shanghai is under rigid restrictions and lockdowns under the government's zero-Covid policy. Tesla has car manufacturing in the city and is forced to shut down temporarily while residents are undergoing tests.

The Shanghai factory is critical for Tesla as cars produced here are mainly sold in China and exported to Europe. It delivered over 56,000 cars in February. This means the unit makes about 2,000 cars a day.

Citing inflationary pressures, the EV manufacturer has lately hiked prices of its cars and stated to be delaying the launching of new models due to problems in the supply chain.
