USA Rare Earth shares only gained 3.7% upside in 2025. But in the first 6 months of 2026, the stock has gained 81.3%. This clearly tells us that something is going on with USA Rare Earth.

USA Rare Earth Stock Is Fueled By Optimism

The upside in the USA Rare Earth share price started even before the company started commercial operations. Just the news that they are inching closer to operations was enough to make investors press the buy button.

It all started in Jan 2026 when the company announced its partnership with the French government. This news sent the stock price higher by 88%.

After that, the company announced that it had picked Fluor. It will help with the Round Top Rare Earth Project located in Texas. Another positive news was the signing of a letter of intent with the US Department of Energy and the Department of Commerce. This helped the company to secure $1.6 billion worth of federal funding.

Then, in April 2026, the company announced that one of its subsidiaries had succeeded in pouring commercial-grade yttrium. It was done at one of its UK facilities. According to the company, only a select few companies outside of China can do that!

So, the bottom line is that the upside is driven by a number of good news. Now, the big question is what's ahead for USA Rare Earth for the rest of 2026 and the next year.

If we look ahead, it appears there's not much to celebrate in the 2nd half of 2026. As things stand right now, very little is being done in terms of operations. We can safely say that USA Rare Earth is more of a speculative stock.

So, if you don't have a high risk tolerance, then it is better to avoid the USA Rare Earth stock. It is still years away from its initial production. Analysts think the production could start somewhere in late 2028.
