According to the CEO of CryptoQuant, the year 2025 will be unforgiving for the majority of the altcoins. He added that most of the altcoins will fail and not survive through 2025.
Only selective and fundamentally strong projects will thrive and register gains during the year 2025. He also commented on how the era of pumping everything has now come to an end.
He used a term called selective alt season - This means only selective altcoins will thrive, while others will just fail or crash during this year.
The reasons which will allow the altcoins to outperform this year are ETF approvals, revenue generation, and real world use cases.
Meanwhile, experts believe that more crypto ETFs are now on the way. The ETH and the BTC ETFs are now a reality and will serve as the basis for more such initiatives.
One analyst added that there is a 90% chance that the Litecoin ETF will be approved. Similarly, there is a 65% and 70% chance for Ripple and Solana, respectively. Another factor that will put optimism is Trump's policies and the new SEC chairman.
But if we look at the market, there is a sea of red with no end in sight. However, we are still early in 2025, and the rest of the year is ahead of us.
Looking back at the topic of ETFs, there is already an application filed for the approval of Solana ETF. This is a sign that the interest of institutions in the crypto market is at all times high.
Elsewhere, Brazil is also ready to launch an XRP ETF (spot), which will be listed on the securities regulator site.
The CryptoQuant CEO also added that there's no greater need for prolonged and sustained user activity. These days, investors are now favoring coins that have real-world usage rather than buzzwords.
Last but not least, the key factor that will decide winning altcoins from the losers will be the revenue.
