Amazon chief and founder Jeff Bezos has a 10 percent stake in the company that is worth about $1.9 trillion. He may become richer following the split of Amazon in two parts. His worth may increase by about 50 percent.
Bezos stepped down earlier this year and handed the charge to Andy Jassy, who looked after the company's cloud business, the Amazon Web Services (AWS) which has been the most efficient and fastest-growing division of the e-commerce giant with over 22 percent operating margin in last twelve months. The operating margin of Amazon was in the single digit for the same period.

Bezos founded Amazon in 1994 as Cadabra, Inc. A year later the company was renamed and became public in 1997. He was born in Albuquerque in 1964 and was raised in Houston. He graduated in 1986 from Princeton University. Before founding Amazon, he worked on Wall Street for about eight years.
He founded Blue Origin aerospace manufacturing company in 2000 and its first vehicle was sent to the space and returned back in 2015. He acquired The Washington Post thirteen years later for $250 million. He co-founded Altos Labs biotechnology company in 2021 with Yuri Milner.
His net worth was $150 billion in 2018 and two years later it increased to $200 billion. During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic year his net worth was further added by about $24 billion wealth.
Bezos was Person of the Year by Time in 1999 and received Innovation Award in 2011. Fortune named him Businessperson of 2012.
He has donated funds several times from 2009 to 2017 for cancer research purposes. His Bezos Academy provides free preschooling to families with low income.
