Chinese Silver Stocks At Record Lows - Ing

According to ING community experts, the inventories of silver in Chinese warehouses are at 10 10-year low. In simple words, the silver stock levels are now at the same level as they were back in 2015.

This drop in the Chinese inventories has sent shockwaves through the global silver market. On the one hand, it shows some serious supply concerns. At the same time, it also shows that the usage of Silver has increased in China as of late.

Silver Export Reached 660 Tonnes

ING also noted that the exports of silver reached a high of 660 tonnes during October. This shows that Silver is also exported to other markets.

The bank also highlighted that large shipments of Silver were sent to London and other markets. So, that's also a key reason why the Silver stocks saw a sharp decline in China.

This reduction in the Silver stock has also sent the Silver prices to record highs. But if China slows down on its Silver exports, then the metal prices will also come down from record levels.

However, even a slowdown in the exports will not be enough to lower the Silver prices to normal levels. After all, Silver prices have also risen due to the strength in Gold prices.

Silver is wisely used in a number of industries. For example, it is used in semiconductors, batteries, solar equipment, conductive contacts, and so on.

So, Silver isn't something that's only used for jewellery. In fact, Silver has a wide range of applications in today's modern world. This means an increase in the Silver prices means we can also expect higher prices of semiconductors across the board.

Since the start of 2025, Silver prices have been up by 70%-75% while Gold has been up by around 58%-60%. This is a clear indication that Silver prices have even outpaced the Gold prices.

ING believes that this imbalance in the Silver market isn't something that will be resolved anytime soon. And even if it did, it would not be enough to lower the Silver prices.
