 Softbank Invests In Ai Platforms

Softbank Plans To Become Leading Ai Platform

According to the CEO of SoftBank, they want to become the top AI platform in Japan. Their plan consists of 10 years and will turn the firm into the go to place for artificial super intelligence.

SoftBank wants to be in a position to offer its technology platform for companies like Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft, and so on. Earlier, the CEO added that the AI technology can easily exceed human capacity by a factor of 10K.

Softbank Invests Heavily In Openai

It seems that SoftBank is now ready to make aggressive investments once again. If we look back, they were early investors in Alibaba, WeWork, and other platforms.

Just this year, they have acquired the Amere for an amount of $6.5 billion. The acquired firm is a chip designer from the US. The company is also planning to invest in ChatGPT for an amount of almost $40 billion.

The CEO added that the firm's total agreed investment in OpenAI is around $32 billion now. He also commented that OpenAI is expected to go public.

It appears that SoftBank is now ready to go all in on OpenAI. In other words, the company's growth is now tied to OpenAI and the whole AI field in general.

The firm also had a 5% share in Nvidia, which it sold during 2019. Fast forward to today, it doesn't look like such a good decision anymore, now that the Nvidia share prices are at record highs.

The recent investments by the CEO come at a time when the firm has stayed at a distance from investments in tech startups. The reason for this retrenchment was that they lost billions of dollars in investments as the startups failed.

To conclude, SoftBank is now putting all of its eggs in the AI basket. Given the AI trend and all of its use cases, the company stands to gain a lot from the AI revolution.
