The Cardano open-source, public blockchain was created by Ethereum co-founder Charles Hoskinson in 2015 and launched in 2017. The project was supervised by a Switzerland-based Cardano Foundation and named after Gerolamo Cardano, an Italian polymath.
Cardano gained much hype in 2021, and many believe it is an Ethereum-killer. However, it is yet to be seen whether this turns true. In this article titled Cardano Invest, we will look at its fundamentals, the development part, and how it is different from Ethereum. We will also discuss whether the Cardano invest mantra could have worth this year and why it is invested.
Both Cardano and its native currency Ada are gaining popularity. About three-fourths of the currency is staked for network validation, and this is something impressive. The project was envisioned to solve some of the issues arising in the open-source community.
At the time of launching in 2017, the project raised around $63 million through ADA ICO (Initial Coin Offering). Since then, the team of developers is increasing, and they are at hard work to soon launch smart contracts on its computation layer.
About 150 developers are currently at work, and they can push some 700 commits a week. It means it is an actively developed project in the world of blockchain. It is believed the development roadmap is on track.
However, the destination is miles away, and as of now, it is not close to Ethereum, Cosmos and Polkadot.
In the third stage of the development roadmap, the team plans to add smart contracts support. The stage is named Goguen. The smart contracts will run on the computation layer of the platform, and legacy solidity contracts will be on the card. It will also have its own language known as Plutus.
The project has managed to partner with some well-known business houses, universities and governments. Few to name here are New Balance, Ethiopia and Illinois. The creator is pushing hard to invade Africa, believing it can make a huge impact there.
New Balance, meanwhile, is planning to use the platform to track its shoes' authenticity.
Cardano is mainly compared to Ethereum as it is the brainchild of Ethereum co-founder. Many investors believe Cardano can be the perfect solution to the issues of Ethereum. Let us take a brief look at the pros and cons of Cardano.
It is proof of stake. It has a good team of developers working for future upgrades. The transaction fee is low because it has segregated the settlement and computation layers.
The project is, in fact fighting an uphill battle. It is competing with big names like Ethereum and Polkadot, and these two have larger development teams. These are growing at a faster speed. Even though it charges a low fee, a low level of demand for the network is disappointing.
It is yet to launch a native smart contract system. Ethereum already has the system and good market share as well.
It is not to forget that Ethereum is an established network and boasts more than 1,500 active developers. It has a rich ecosystem and is more decentralised than Cardano. It is much more secure, and the Ethereum 2.0 upgrade further strengthens the security features.
The only drawback of Ethereum worth mentioning here is its lengthy transition to PoS. The competitors may catch up soon if the network fails to find a solution. Moreover, it has a high network fee, and many potential applications find it unusable.
Cardano can be bought from any platform that offers cryptocurrencies. Few to name here are Coinbase, Binance and Kraken.
Ethereum is a successful and popular network. This is true. So, why can't the success story be repeated with Cardano? Of course, it should be. There is a valid reason for it. The co-founder of Ethereum has created Cardano. It means the same brain works here. However, the development process is not easy and fast. A team of developers works hard to achieve milestones. The strength of the team is directly proportionate to achievements in development. Well, it is hoped Cardano may become popular soon. It seems to be on the right path.
In this article titled Cardano Invest, we discussed, in brief, the platform and what are the pros and cons of it if compared to Ethereum. Like two sides of a coin, it too has advantages and disadvantages. Crypto enthusiasts believe it is an answer to the issues of Ethereum and therefore suitable for investment.
