We found 11 online brokers that are appropriate for Trading 5 Digit.
5-digit is a new concept in the Forex market. Before 2007 so-called 5 decimals were not common with currency pairs and 5 Digit brokers didn't exist. Forex currency pair price quotations were then limited to 4 digits or 4 decimals for example 4.5678.
Now, most Forex brokers offer quotations in 5 decimals for example 2.56789 or 1.34346. The last digit after the decimal refers to a partial pip value, which is technically said to be one-tenth of a pip.
The Forex market exploded after the year 2000 and with it the number of brokers across the world. Competition started becoming fierce and brokers started finding innovative ways to attract more clients. They reduced the cost to trade and introduced decimals in pricing to make the system more accurate and precise. Hence 4-digit decimals and later 5-digit decimals came into existence.
Clients who trade in high volume look for 5 Digit brokers as even a slight price movement can be detected through their trading platforms and profits can be made either by buying or selling of currencies.
The MT4 or MetaTrader4 trading platform does not display fractional pips compared to MT5 or MetaTrader5 which does.
The MT4 or 4-digit quotes prices like 4.5672 while MT5 or 5-digit quotes price as 4.56723.
In the above example price change to the fifth place after decimal cannot be quoted as 4.5672.3 in MT4 as two decimals do not exist. Hence, the price quote remains as 4.5672 without displaying the slight pip value.
In the MT5 platform, such partial pip value is revealed and traders can take advantage of this change either by buying or selling currencies in the Forex market.
MT4 or other trading platforms programmed to display price quotes of 4 digits may not work on a 5-digit brokers' platform as the software codes need to be reconfigured. Lately, several programmers have emerged to do the needful and the software may start performing 5-digit trading.
It’s easy to find 5 Digit brokers who are offering MT5 or other platforms that display quotes in 5 decimals. More to this, the traders should be able to interpret slight pip value movements and equally understand the profit or loss of their trades.
With a 5-digit platform, automated trading algorithms have been made possible for precise entries or exits and this is specifically helpful during news trades.
Let's understand this with an example. Suppose a trader is looking to earn $5,400 from a pip movement of 5.4 that displays on a 5-digit platform as 54 pips. To reach the target trading of 100 lots need to be done with an entry probably at between 1.56432 and 1.56476. It is a fact that all the traders are not equipped with 5-digit software and so there is an advantageous position. The trader thus takes an entry at 1.56432 and sells the position, which the 5 Digit brokers fill at 1.56476. So, 5.4 pips target is met.
It has become the norm to go for 5-digit trading if your brokerage if offering it. The Forex market is highly competitive and most of the traders want to take advantage of even a slight movement in the price of currency pair. This is not possible on the 4-digit platform. Hence, the demand of 5 Digit brokers has also risen in recent years.
