We found 11 online brokers that are appropriate for Trading Share Chart Pattern Investment Platforms.
Chart patterns are usually the same regardless of the underlying asset or the market. In the stock market, using chart patterns is an essential part of trading using technical analysis. It doesn't matter the type of trader you are, chart patterns can be used by both beginners and advanced traders.
Some of the markets where traders prefer to use these patterns are Stock, Cryptocurrency, Forex, commodity, and so on.
Depending on the type of pattern, it may have a distinct shape or form. When spotting such patterns, one needs to be subjective as applying hard rules can minimize the number of signals and quality. In this type of strategy, recognizing which type of chart pattern is present is very important & can provide an edge in the market.
Before we jump into more details, let's take a look at the top chart patterns and how to trade them:
This is a bullish price pattern and can be identified from a rising trend line on the bottom and a flat resistance point at the top. Once the price breaks above the resistance line (top), it means ascending triangle pattern has been confirmed.
The longest distance witnessed between the resistance and trendline will be take profit (TP) target.
This is considered a bullish continuation formation. However, sometimes the price can break below the bottom trendline. In that case, the formation will become invalid and should not be traded.
A descending triangle pattern is an exact opposite of ascending triangle. In this chart pattern, a horizontal support line is present at the bottom. On the top side, a bearish trendline can be drawn. Both of these lines combine to resemble a descending triangle.
This is a bearish triangle that can be traded once the support zone (bottom) is broken. To be on the safe side, one should wait until the candle closes below the support zone for confirmation. The longest distance witnessed between the resistance and trendline will be take profit (TP) target.
By calculating the TP target, one can also set a reasonable stop-loss level.
This is the third triangle pattern but it is neither bearish nor bullish. It is more a neutral chart pattern that can be identified due to a falling trendline at the top and a rising trendline at the bottom. Together, both trendlines resemble a symmetrical triangle with almost similar angles on both sides.
Depending on the direction of the breakout, this chart pattern can turn bearish or bullish. A candle closes below the lower trendline means a bearish signal. Similarly, a break outside the upper trend means a bullish signal.
The longest distance between the two trendlines will be considered as the take profit (TP) level. That distance can be added outside the triangle to figure out the exact level for taking a profit.
This chart pattern is usually seen during a downtrend. The appearance of double bottom means a possible reversal of the bearish trend into a bullish trend.
This chart pattern can be identified from its symbolic 'W' character appearance. Price attempts to break below a horizontal support line but fails to do. Then, a slight bounce back happens followed by yet another attempt by the bears to break below the support line. Once again, the price fails to close below the support line. This time, bulls take charge and finally close above the 'bounce back' which was witnessed after the first failed attempt.
A break above the middle point (neckline) means a bullish signal.
Unlike double bottom, the double top formation is a bearish signal. Such chart patterns are usually spotted during an uptrend. If a double top formation is witnessed during a bearish trend, it should be discarded.
Only the double top formation found during a bullish trend is important. This pattern can be spotted due to its 'M' formation. In double top, price attempts to break above a horizontal resistance line. After failure, a slight retracement occurs. Once again, bulls try to break the resistance line but fail. This time, the price finally breaks below the retracement that was witnessed after the 1st failed attempt to break the resistance.
A break below the middle point (neckline) means a bearish signal.
This pattern can be identified from its two small peaks and one big peak in the middle. This is a reversal pattern that signifies a bearish trend.
In the Head & Shoulder pattern, the price makes a small peak-like formation. Let's call it 'Peak#1' or left shoulder. This is followed by another peak formation that goes above the left shoulder. This is called the 'Head' portion. Once again, the price returns back to the neckline. This time, another peak formation appears but it fails to go above the head peak.
Finally, price breaks below the neckline signaling exhaustion of bulls and a possible bearish trend.
