We found 11 online brokers that are appropriate for Trading 4D Printing Stocks Investment Platforms.

4D Printing Stocks are not only for large-scaled businesses and corporations. The concept of this technology has taken on a new life in the realm of artists and individuals who desire to make their own unique and personalised creations. Many people, who once ran businesses or joined corporate organisations, have discovered that the creativity that can be unlocked by using a computer and a printer can give them the chance to make a difference in the world around them. Creating the possibility for self-expression is what keeps the arts flourishing. Creating a product that you can customize and that you can take pride in having made is what gives artists a sense of fulfillment that they cannot get from any other source.
Some of the most sought after items in the collection of this technology are figurines that depict gods and goddesses. They often have intricate facial features and are created from marble or ceramic. These pieces are highly valuable to collectors and individuals alike. It is also popular in the world of fine arts and crafts for sculptures that are designed by professionals and are hand crafted to ensure the quality and finish of each piece. These types of pieces can be found online or in many retail outlets.
This technology has also found its way into the realm of the fine model train hobbyist. There are hobbyists who create models from plastic or steel. Using the latest technology that makes use of dye sublimation, these enthusiasts can create unique designs that will astound those who see them.
The concept of this printing process is much the same way as what is used by companies to print their logos and marketing material. The file that is being used for the printing job needs to be clear and free of errors. The material used needs to be glossy and scratch resistant. They need to be easily cleanable and last for years to come. The material is also often chosen to match certain colors in an environment.
When I research 4D printing stocks, I start by separating the underlying technology from the marketing surrounding it. 4D printing generally refers to 3D printed objects that are designed to change their shape, properties, or function over time when exposed to heat, moisture, light, electricity, pressure, or another stimulus.
From what I have found, there is currently no major listed company whose business depends mainly on 4D printing. Most of the available stocks provide indirect exposure through additive manufacturing systems, responsive materials, design software, medical applications, and digital production services. I therefore treat these companies as stocks to research rather than pure 4D printing investments.

When I first researched 3D Systems, I found that it was completely different from the consumer electronics company described in the original text. 3D Systems is an additive manufacturing company that provides industrial 3D printers, printing materials, software, production services, and application support. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker DDD.
The company serves industrial and healthcare markets rather than selling display screens, projectors, or consumer computer accessories. Its technologies can produce plastic, metal, dental, medical, and specialised industrial parts. It also provides software for preparing, managing, inspecting, and improving additive manufacturing workflows.
I regard 3D Systems as an indirect way of following developments that could support 4D printing. Its systems and materials may be useful for research involving complex or responsive structures, but its commercial business remains focused on conventional additive manufacturing. When I assess DDD, I pay more attention to industrial demand, material sales, cash use, profitability, and the adoption of its production systems than to speculative claims about future technology.

Proto Labs is not a small promotional printing business in El Cajon, California. It is a digital manufacturing company with its global headquarters in Maple Plain, Minnesota. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker PRLB.
From my research, the company is best known for producing custom parts from customer designs. Its services include industrial 3D printing, CNC machining, injection moulding, and sheet metal fabrication. Engineers and product developers use these services for prototypes, testing, bridge production, and finished components.
What stands out to me is that Protolabs is mainly a manufacturing service provider rather than a producer of desktop printers. Customers upload a digital design, select a material and manufacturing process, and receive custom parts. This gives the company exposure to wider demand for rapid product development and distributed manufacturing.
I view Protolabs as an indirect additive manufacturing stock rather than a dedicated 4D printing company. It could benefit if demand grows for complex parts made from advanced materials, but investors should remember that 3D printing represents only one part of its wider manufacturing business.

Stratasys is the listed company that I associate most closely with the early development of 4D printing. Its shares trade on Nasdaq under the ticker SSYS. The company provides polymer 3D printers, materials, software, service contracts, and manufacturing solutions for industries including aerospace, automotive, healthcare, consumer products, fashion, and education.
The historical connection to 4D printing is important. Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology worked with Stratasys and Autodesk on printed multi material structures that could transform after production. Different material properties were placed within a single object so that it could bend, fold, expand, or assemble when exposed to a particular stimulus.
This research connection makes Stratasys one of the more relevant public companies for anyone following 4D printing. However, I would not describe SSYS as a pure 4D printing stock. Its revenue continues to come from established 3D printing systems, polymers, software, consumable materials, parts, and support services.
Stratasys also agreed in May 2026 to acquire Markforged from Nano Dimension, subject to the transaction closing and receiving the required approvals. I see this as part of the continuing consolidation within the additive manufacturing industry rather than proof that commercial 4D printing has arrived.

Materialise is another established name that I include when researching advanced manufacturing stocks. Its shares trade under the ticker MTLS on Nasdaq and Euronext Brussels. The company provides 3D printing software, manufacturing services, and medical technology.
Materialise does not depend on selling one type of printer. Its software helps customers prepare designs, manage production, control printing workflows, and develop specialised applications. The company also produces custom parts and patient specific medical products for industries such as healthcare, aerospace, automotive, eyewear, art, and consumer goods.
I see Materialise as an infrastructure provider within additive manufacturing. Software will be important if 4D printed components eventually require more advanced control over geometry, materials, simulation, and production. However, the company does not currently rely on 4D printing as a major source of revenue, so I treat MTLS as an indirect stock in this field.

Nano Dimension trades on Nasdaq under the ticker NNDM. It has historically focused on advanced digital manufacturing technologies for industries such as electronics, aerospace, defence, automotive production, and medical devices.
This is one of the more speculative names I encounter when reviewing additive manufacturing stocks. The company has completed several acquisitions, but its portfolio has also changed considerably. During 2026 it announced plans to sell Markforged to Stratasys and arranged the sale of additional product lines.
Because of these changes, I no longer view Nano Dimension as a simple investment in one clearly defined 3D or 4D printing business. I would examine its latest financial statements, remaining operations, asset sales, cash position, and strategic plans before deciding how much exposure it still provides to additive manufacturing.

FARO Technologies should not be described as a supplier of 3D Systems printers. Its main business is 3D measurement, laser scanning, imaging, digital reality, and precision metrology. Manufacturers use its equipment and software to inspect components, capture physical environments, compare finished parts with digital designs, and improve quality control.
FARO was previously traded on Nasdaq under the ticker FARO, but it is no longer an independent public company. AMETEK completed its acquisition of FARO in July 2025, and FARO shares stopped trading after the transaction closed.
Investors can now obtain only indirect exposure to FARO through AMETEK, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker AME. I would keep in mind that AMETEK is a large and diversified industrial technology company, so FARO represents only one part of its wider business.
FARO can support additive manufacturing through inspection and measurement, but it is not a direct 4D printing company. I consider it part of the wider manufacturing technology supply chain rather than a dedicated printing stock.

ExOne is best known for industrial binder jetting technology. Binder jetting deposits a binding material onto layers of powder to create a part. The technology is commonly associated with industrial sand moulds, cores, metal components, and other manufacturing applications rather than colour artwork or ordinary commercial printing.
ExOne is no longer a publicly traded stock. Desktop Metal acquired the company in 2021. Following later financial and ownership changes, Anzu Partners acquired ExOne operations in 2025 and combined ExOne and voxeljet under ExOne Global Holdings.
I therefore would not include ExOne in a current list of stocks that can be purchased on a public exchange. It remains an important industrial additive manufacturing name, but anyone presenting it as an active stock would be using outdated information.
From my research, Stratasys has the strongest documented connection to the original development of 4D printing, while 3D Systems, Protolabs, and Materialise provide broader exposure to additive manufacturing. Nano Dimension is a more complicated situation because its business portfolio is changing, while FARO and ExOne are no longer independent public stocks.
I do not assume that a company will benefit financially simply because it operates in 3D printing. Commercial 4D printing still depends on progress in responsive materials, repeatable production, simulation software, durability, safety, and manufacturing costs. These requirements may take years to develop into large and dependable markets.
When comparing these stocks, I examine revenue growth, gross margins, recurring material and software income, research spending, cash use, debt, share dilution, customer concentration, and progress towards profitability. I also check whether management is generating commercial sales or mainly discussing experimental technology.
For me, these companies belong on a research list rather than a guaranteed growth list. 4D printing may create valuable applications in healthcare, aerospace, robotics, textiles, construction, and adaptive products, but regulation, technical limitations, competition, and slow customer adoption can all affect investment returns.
