Moon Dogecoin Guide

Updated July 29, 2021

Moon Dogecoin

The term Moon Dogecoin is trending on social platforms lately and was first coined by Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, through one of his tweets in which he mentions that the altcoin is literally going to the moon.

He bought an undisclosed amount of Dogecoin for his infant son and following that the price went up by over 20 percent at $0.057252 in a single day. In 2021, up to this time, the value has jumped 890 percent. It is being said the gains are due to persistent touting of Dogecoin by Musk.

On Wednesday, he tweeted a cartoon of Shiba Inu dog on the lunar surface. He captioned it as on the actual moon.

Musk's SpaceX project under a NASA contract is working on systems to return to the lunar surface by 2024 and so it is not very clear what he was referring to in his tweet of Moon Dogecoin.

Musk first tweeted about the joke cryptocurrency on February 4 and since then the price has surged considering his ability to move the market.

One of his fans asked him why he is a fan of Dogecoin. The billionaire replied that he loves dogs and memes.

How Dogecoin Began

Dogecoin was created by two software engineers for fun, to establish an instant payment method that can be free from any central authority. It was based on an internet meme of a Shiba Inu dog.

Musk is a cryptocurrency enthusiast. His Tesla holds an investment of $1.5 billion in Bitcoin, which currently has a market cap of about $920 billion while that of Dogecoin is just about $7.35 billion. The currency was trading above $49,000 on Wednesday with a gain of 2 percent in 24 hours, and 68 percent so far this year.

However, he has been tweeting about Dogecoin again this month. His first tweet on February 4 was accompanied by a photo of a rocket that was soaring past the moon. He captioned the image as Doge. One of his tweets thereafter read that Dogecoin is the crypto of people.

Meanwhile, venture capitalist Nic Carter has warned people against investing in Dogecoin as it is a vehicle for speculation.

Carter has said that the so-called Moon Dogecoin holds no actual interesting technology and many retail punters may lose money in the long run.
