We found 11 online brokers that are appropriate for Trading Dogecoin Investment Platforms.
There was nothing serious about Dogecoin in 2013, even though it is now one of the top cryptocurrencies in the world. Software engineers Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus created the coin to develop a unique and instant payment system for fun that could also be free from banking fees.
It is an open-source and peer-to-peer digital currency, and it's currently one of the most sought-after altcoins. Its price is low and supply is unlimited. Its technology is similar to the technology used by Litecoin, another major altcoin.
Created as a joke, Dogecoin gained popularity immediately after launching in 2013 and its website received one million visitors in 30 days. The first significant jump in value was noticed in 2017, in a cryptocurrency bubble. A major bubble burst was experienced the following year and much of the value was lost. However, the currency still has a good base of loyal supporters who use it for tipping content providers on social media like Reddit and Twitter. The coin is also being traded on cryptocurrency exchanges. The coin is stored in a Dogecoin wallet.
Adobe's Sydney office product manager Jackson Palmer created the coin in 2013 and his initial tweets about the new venture were welcomed with masses of positive feedback. IBM software developer Billy Markus from Oregon, Poland approached Palmer to help in building the software needed behind Dogecoin.
The duo followed the coding of Litecoin, named Luckycoin, and initially rewarded miners in randomized ways. This was changed to a static reward in March 2014. Dogecoin's scrypt technology is similar to that of Litecoin and is useful in confirming proof-of-work.
The value of Dogecoin jumped 300 percent in just two weeks after the launching on 6th December 2013. In the first 30 days, the website dogecoin.com received more than a million visitors.
It is important here to take note that Dogecoin is an inflationary coin, unlike Bitcoin that is a deflationary coin. Dogecoin supply has no ceiling while Bitcoin circulation is halved once in every four years. This means the inflation rate is halved.
Dogecoin has a strong community and in January 2014 it donated 27 million coins to sponsor the Jamaican bobsled team's participation in the Sochi Winter Olympic games. The fund was worth $30,000. Later, during March, millions of Dogecoin were donated for building a wall in Kenya. Similarly, NASCAR driver Josh Wise was sponsored.
Jackson Palmer left Dogecoin in 2015 saying the community has grown toxic. One of such members being referred to is British citizen Alex Green a.k.a. Ryan Kennedy who created Moolah, a Dogecoin exchange. He was also a generous tipper. He is well known in the community for mistakenly donating $15,000 instead of $1,500 in fundraising.
He initially managed to convince the community to donate for his exchange creation, but later it was learned the money was used in purchasing at least $1.5 million worth of Bitcoin. This move led to furthering his lavish lifestyle. In 2016 he was convicted of multiple counts of rape. He was sentenced to prison for eleven years.
By the end of 2017, the value of most cryptocurrencies skyrocketed and the same was seen for Dogecoin. However, the prices started collapsing the next year. Dogecoin then traded at the maximum value of $0.018. It had a market capitalization of more than $2 billion.
The next bump was experienced in 2019. It was a happy moment for Dogecoin enthusiasts when Binance crypto exchange listed it. Moreover, Tesla CEO Elon Musk mentioned the coin in one of his tweets for the first time.
Dogecoin is one of the most sought-after altcoins in the cryptocurrency segment. It was created out of a joke by two software engineers in 2013 and lately it is being mentioned frequently by celebrities like Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The hype is on and the value is on the rise.
The open-source digital currency had a market capitalization of $611 million in December 2020. It has an active community of miners. It is expected that the rise in value will continue in 2024 as well as beyond this.
